{photo_1}LifeEncore has several popular coaching packages to help you make decisions and move forward in discovering a satisfying life for yourself in the future. Packages are available for individuals and couples. If you are part of a couple you may choose to get coaching together or on your own. It will be productive and meaningful for you however you do it.
{photo_2}Coaching packages range from a single two-hour session that includes the Retirement Explorations Survey to 12 separate 1 to 1-1/2 hour sessions, spread out over a 6-9 month period.
Included in all packages is the Retirement Exploration Survey (RES), an assessment of the gaps between how you currently see yourself and the plans you have made, and where you would like to be in the future. The RES has proved to be a valuable instrument in helping individuals and couples {photo_3}focus on the most important aspects of planning for the retirement phase of their lives. It is presented first as a questionnaire you answer online. Your answers are then turned into a report, which you download and print. In coaching, we review it together and use it as a starting point to explore retirement-related issues and pinpoint areas of concern.
The more you know about your options for the next phase of your life, the better chance you’ll make decisions you’re pleased with. Enjoy these articles, and check back often to see more, or request our free newsletter (see left) to get notices as articles are posted.

LifeEncore offers individual coaching for retiring executives and workshops for employees who are retirement eligible or who have recently retired.
Coaching for Retiring Executives
{photo_1}Men and women who have reached executive levels in their careers often look at “retirement” with great ambivalence – and legitimately so! One the one hand, they are probably tired and ready for a change. However, in most cases their careers have been their source of identity and pride for many years. This is a very difficult thing to leave without knowing what’s on the other side of this major life transition.
In past generations, life expectancy was only a few years beyond retirement age, and most hard working execs were not facing a significant life span beyond their working years. Today’s 55+ executive has likely kept himself/herself in relatively good shape, has a lot of energy left for other things, and, thanks to modern medicine, can expect to live another 20-30 years.
Determining the best path for channeling that capability, knowledge, and energy is critical to their willingness to leave and their wellbeing when they walk out the door for the last time. Many recent studies have shown that without a plan, executives are at serious risk for depression.
In LifeEncore’s one-on-one executive coaching packages, Dr. Geber enables these high-powered people to make decisions and move forward in discovering a new identity and planning a satisfying retirement lifestyle.
Included in all packages is the Retirement Exploration Survey(RES), an assessment of retirement readiness and the gaps between how individuals currently see themselves and where they would like to be in the future. The RES has proved to be a valuable instrument in helping people focus on the most important aspects of planning for the retirement phase of their lives.
In coaching, it is extremely valuable as a starting point to explore retirement-related issues and pinpoint areas of concern.
Workshops
{photo_2}LifeEncore workshops are geared to people who are considering retirement or who have recently retired from their careers.
In the workshops Dr. Geber provides guidance similar to that offered through coaching, but in a group environment. - Learn about the Eight Keys to a Successful Retirement and how to use them
- Determine the retirement lifestyle that best suits you

- Figure out what you want to do in retirement – how you want to spend your time and what will bring meaning and purpose to your life
- Determine a realistic timeline for your retirement
- Determine whether you need or want to produce income in retirement and how to go about finding the right opportunity
- Learn about volunteer opportunities, decide if volunteering is right for you now, and learn how to begin “giving back”

If you are a single or couple without children…
{photo_1}If you are an individual or part of a couple, without offspring, planning for a lifestyle change or full retirement, there are key issues you will confront as you move ahead in your life. Many of these are similar to the issues faced by people with children:
- What money will you have to live on?
- What will you be doing with your life?
- Who will you spend time with?
- Where will you live?
- What would you need or want to change should (one of) you have an accident or a lingering illness?
For those without adult children and grandchildren, there are a couple more important considerations as we age:
- Who might you depend upon to be an advocate and companion for you in your older years?
- What provisions have you made for asset management and your own personal care in your later years?
{photo_2}These are all VERY important considerations as we move through our lives. Some of them may be easy to answer for the first 10-year block, and no doubt they will get a little more difficult as you project into the future, where there are more unknowns. No one has a crystal ball, so all we can do is make some educated guesses about our future circumstances, based on where we are today.
As a certified retirement coach, I am trained to help you answer these questions and make some solid decisions about the future. Contact me with your specific questions or to discuss coaching package options.
{photo_1}If you are single and planning for a lifestyle change or full retirement, there are key issues you will confront as you move ahead in your life. Taking a look at these issues now, and being proactive about them will help you move smoothly through the decades ahead. These questions raise the key issues:
- What money will you have to live on?
- What will you be doing with your life?
- Who will you spend time with?
- Where and with whom will you live?
- Who can you depend upon to be an advocate and companion for you, should you have an accident or a lingering illness?
It may be helpful to think of your life in 10-year segments. For example, if you are currently 58, answer the questions for the next 10 years - from now until you are 68. Then project yourself into the next decade and think about what you want between ages 68-78. Then between 78-88. The last segment being 88+. It’s true, you might not live that long, but what if you do?

As someone facing your 50s and beyond, you are soon to be faced with the unique opportunity of having a whole new phase of life – possibly spanning 20-30 years – beyond the typical retirement age of 65. What will you do with it?
That is the question LifeEncore poses and helps you answer. Through coaching, assessments, information, and workshops LifeEncore can help you better understand what you HAVE, what you ENJOY, what you want to LEARN, and how you might GIVE BACK.
With that in mind, through coaching and workshops we help our clients in three ways:
- Chart the path ahead; we help you make decisions and plans about how to live a life of greatest satisfaction to you
- Provide information to those who may be unaware of the smorgasbord of options available to those who are 55+
- Raise awareness about the unique issues that we face as we age, and the best ways to prepare for the future. We are especially knowledgeable about the unique challenges faced by those without adult children and grandchildren
What does your perfect retirement look like?
- Pursuing new interests, learning new skills or traveling to far-flung places?
- Starting a new business?
- Finding a new home?
- Getting involved in your community or exploring “giving back” by working on issues you care about?
- Totally confused?
LifeEncore exists to help you sort it all out – that’s what we do best.
Never had kids? You’re not alone! Almost 20% of the baby boomers are “solo agers” – individuals or couples 55+ who do not have children and/or grandchildren. As such, you have some unique advantages in your later years. Your choice of where to live is less likely to be driven by the whereabouts of family; you do not have the responsibility of putting kids or grandkids through college or helping them buy their first house; you can choose to do whatever you like with your legacy.
On the flip side, however, are some unique considerations for later life. LifeEncore can help you determine the nature and kind of support you will need in your later years. We can steer you in the right direction for doing advanced planning to cover these issues.
LifeEncore is a unique concept in later-life planning, conceived and launched by Sara Zeff Geber, Ph.D.
